Scotland v Czech Republic 3rd Sept 2011 PREVIEW

Nice video from braveheartlynch.
I really shudder at that game in Prague in 2010. Let’s hope we play with strikers!

Here is the team:

Team to face the Czech Republic: McGregor, Hutton, Caldwell, Berra, Bardsley, Naismith, Fletcher, Adam, Brown, Morrison, Miller

Wales 3 Scotland 0 – the door opens for Spider Monkey!

It is too difficult to write about our disappointment – and its already been expressed very “eloquently” via other channels. Instead, with a positive look to the future, the AATA relaunch their bid to have a Spider Monkey as Scotland manager.

spidermonkey
Let’s face it, a monkey could do as good a job as a human – and way better than a certain particular human.

What does an international manager do? He pretty much randomly picks the team from a group of players that pretty much picks itself; he comes up with any old tactical plan from a limited range of formations; and he gibbers a lot in an attempt to get those players to be motivated to play for their nation, which strangely seems to be necessary.

In fact all the gibbering probably just confuses the bananas out of them and they don’t really understand it anyway.

We can get anyone as its assistant to fill the trainer role – someone to hold the list of options as the monkey stabs at it with a marker pen. This is bound to result in better tactical choices then those Scotland have set out recently!

So, we say – get a spider monkey as manager. It doesn’t really have to be a spider monkey, any old monkey will do, but the spider ones are cool. Like spider man, but a monkey. And it would appreciate that with this great power comes great responsibility.

We could even call it George, if you like - or Berti or something else cuddly, like Walter.

Come on – support the cause – Spider Monkey for Scotland manager!!!!!!

Doh a deer? …..revision…..

doe-a-deer
The doh a deer (doe a deer?) song comes in for some criticism from some quarters due to it’s irrelevance and soppy goody-two-shoes sweetness. Others see these attributes as a positive advantage for a football song, eschewing the “We Are Great and You’re No’” attitude that other team’s supporters are too neanderthal to see beyond.  Ahem.

Anyway, we at the AATA decided to come up with revisions of the basic doh a deer that at least brought some relevance to the TA campaigns. We tried to capture what following Scotland really means to us.

We present our humble efforts for your amusement. Which one (if any) do you prefer?

version 1. The “intelligentsia version”.

Go – for beer, a pint of beer.

Someone buys another round.

Eat some crap, sing TA songs.

Now my guts are churning round.

So, we go and watch the game.

Squeaky bum time again.

But we win so it’s ok.

And that brings us back to go-o-o-o….

version 2. The “we’ll be drinking” version.

Go – for beer, a pint of beer.

Ray – a drop of golden beer.

Me – I go and buy some beer.

Fah – a long, long queue for beer.

So – we go and get some beer.

La – we sing a song with beer.

Tea – a thing we eat with beer.

And that brings us back to go -o-o-o….

[end_columns]

Or perhaps you just like the simple…..

version 3. The “alcoholic” version.

Go – for beer, a pint of beer

Then we go and get a beer

Then we have another beer

Then we go and get more beer

So we go and get a beer

Then we get another beer

Then we go and get more beer

And that brings us back to go-o-o-o….
